Next, Let go of the need to be self-fulfilling.  You should not only look into your own interests, but also to the interests of others, such as financial affairs, property, family, health, reputation, education, success, and even happiness.  Seeing others they way they are, and being open to their needs leaves out the me me me part of the equation, and allows you to see the world in a truly new perspective. Next, Let go of the need to be offended. You’re not this body and its accomplishments.  You are the observer.  Notice it all; and be grateful for the abilities you’ve accumulated.  The less you need to take credit for your achievements, the more connected you stay to the power of creation.  You will feel content with yourself, and be able to release a lot of the stress that has been following you around.  This will make the time with your spouse even more rewarding and fun. Finally, Let go of the need to rely on your reputation.  Your reputation is not located in you.  It resides in the minds of others.  Therefore, you have no control over it at all.  Your spouse is more concerned about your character than they are about your reputation. Christ loved us and died for us.  He forgave us and accepted us, justified us and gave us eternal life.  He made us heirs of the world when he owed us nothing. He treated us as worthy of his service, when we were not worthy of his service. He took thought not only for his own interests but for ours. He counted us as greater than himself: “Who is the greater,” he said, “one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves” (Luke 22:27).
