Next, Let go of the need to be offended. Finally, Let go of the need to rely on your reputation.  Your reputation is not located in you.  It resides in the minds of others.  Therefore, you have no control over it at all.  Your spouse is more concerned about your character than they are about your reputation. Christ loved us and died for us.  He forgave us and accepted us, justified us and gave us eternal life.  He made us heirs of the world when he owed us nothing. He treated us as worthy of his service, when we were not worthy of his service. He took thought not only for his own interests but for ours.
